Andrew Moot is a New Zealand-trained general and colorectal surgeon specialising in minimally invasive surgery of the colon and rectum. He treats a broad range of colorectal conditions, including haemorrhoids, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and pelvic floor disorders. He also performs gallbladder and hernia surgeries.
After completing his general surgery fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005, Andrew undertook advanced training in colorectal surgery at the Royal London Hospital and Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge, England. He began his consultant career in Hawkes Bay, where he introduced minimally invasive colorectal surgery for public patients at Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital and privately at Royston Hospital. In 2014, he relocated to Auckland to join Waitemata DHB as a general and colorectal surgeon. He now consults private patients at the Waitemata Specialist Centre.
Andrew has been actively involved in professional development and healthcare leadership. As President of the New Zealand Association of General Surgeons (NZAGS) from 2016 to 2018, he represented General Surgery on the RACS New Zealand National Board and the RACS Board in General Surgery. He also contributed to the Endoscopy Guidance Group of New Zealand, supporting the development of national standards for colonoscopy and bowel screening.
Andrew performs private surgeries at Southern Cross North Harbour and conducts colonoscopy and gastroscopy procedures at Waitemata Endoscopy’s North Harbour and Henderson locations. He also consults at clinics in Browns Bay and Henderson.
Andrew remains committed to advancing standards in colorectal surgery and endoscopy in New Zealand while providing comprehensive care to his patients.
