Andrew is a leading colorectal surgeon and endoscopist specialising in all major and minor colorectal conditions. He is particularly skilled in hemorrhoid surgery and has performed over 1,000 HAL-RAR/hemorrhoid procedures.
Andrew trained in New Zealand as a general surgeon and completed advanced colorectal training at the prestigious John Goligher Unit in Leeds, UK, and the Royal Prince Alfred Unit in Sydney. He has worked as a general and colorectal surgeon at the Waitemata Specialist Centre in both public and private sectors for over 10 years.
As a colorectal surgeon and endoscopist, Andrew provides all laparoscopic and keyhole colorectal procedures for both cancer and benign conditions. He has performed a large volume of gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures, including laparoscopic and complex hernia repairs. He has expertise in pilonidal surgery (including flaps) and colorectal pelvic floor disorders and is actively involved with gynaecologist and endometriosis surgery.
Andrew also has extensive experience in treating conditions such as gallbladder disease, skin disorders, toenail conditions, and other general surgical procedures.
Andrew has had a central role in developing both the NZ complex colorectal cancer unit/exenteration unit and the complex hernia repair unit. He is a HAL-RAR/Haemorrhoid educator, a prevocational educator supervisor, and an honorary clinical lecturer at Auckland University. Currently, Andrew is involved with the early development of colorectal/hernia robotic surgery in New Zealand.

Outside of surgery, Andrew is a passionate tennis player, especially when playing against his son.
